As we continue to focus on GROWING in Christ in the year 2020, we want to focus again on PRAYER in the month of October. Just as we did in the month of May, we want PRAYER to be at the forefront of our hearts and minds in the month of October.
It is easy when we face uncertain times, or situations that are out of our immediate control, to respond in worry. It can be easy to feel hopeless and helpless. But, as followers of Christ, we have hope in our faithful God that does not fade away. God’s desire for his children is that they would trust and lean on Him. One way we can do this is through prayer.
Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
We want to challenge our church family in the month of October to seek to GROW in Christ through PRAYER.
As we seek to GROW through PRAYER, let us be reminded of the promise we have from God’s Word in James 5:16, “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
Here are some daily prayer requests to take before our great God in the month of October:
Pray for lost family, friends, co-workers, classmates, neighbors, etc.
Pray for open doors of opportunity to share the Gospel
Pray for our Elders and Pastors as they seek to lead and minister well during unprecedented times
Pray for the church globally that there would be much fruit from the ministry of the Word of God
Pray for those who are sick and struggling physically, emotionally, and mentally
Pray for those who are out of work, and struggling to make ends meet
Pray for our President and Vice President as they lead our nation
Pray for local, state, and federal leaders
Pray for our nation as a whole, that we will turn to the Lord, and uphold righteousness
Pray for the upcoming elections that the Lord will be glorified
The list could be unending of requests we can take to our great God. We encourage you in the month of October to GROW in Christ by faithfully, daily, consistently incorporating PRAYER into your life!
